NAMIBIA FLY-IN SAFARIS AND AIR CHARTER

Erwin's
passion for flying dates back to his childhood, when his grandfather, Oscar
Gerhard Goebel, took him along on gliding excursions over the Okahandja and
Windhoek areas (Osona). Erwin's grandfather was one of the pioneers of the sport
of gliding, and worked at Wasserkuppe in Germany where he designed, built and
tested gliders (1928).
After completing his studies in electrical engineering in Germany, he returned
to Namibia where he worked at the Windhoek Power Station. Flying and gliding
was in his blood, and he became a gliding instructor and later, turned to designing
and building gliders at Bitterwasser, today an internationally known gliding
centre.

We
have provided a selection of Historic Photographs showing gliding events and
locations at the renowned "Wasserkuppe" Germany.
